ALPHONCE OGINGA

ALFONCEAlphonce Oginga lost his father and mother as a child.  He was able to finish his schooling because he was sponsored by the Christian Children’s Fund so that his school fees were paid.  As in many areas of Kenya, lack of rain, deforestation and soil erosion is a problem in Alphonce’s village.  His project is to plant eucalyptus trees to reduce soil erosion, improve crop productivity, and to provide a source of income for the community members.  Alphonce will be studying Planning at the University of Nairobi.  Alphonce expresses, “I believe that I owe so much to this society and I have good plans for it..  I shall give back to it more than it has given me.”
